A wonderful, empathetic man, and a wonderful book, I challenge you to read this and not feel calmer, more centered and less anxious afterwards. I particularly loved the section on ‘purpose’, and how having something to look forward to each day can give you that zing of joy before falling asleep (a little endorphin/dopamine boost to get you to the land of nod).

Find out which of four different chronotypes you are – each of which has/had an evolutionary advantage (debunking the myth of larks and night owls). I loved this book, and found myself howling with laughter and recognition at the description of the Dolphin. A really actionable way of reprogramming the release of cortisol/sleep hormones to get you back in sync with society (and stopping me from cleaning out That Drawer at 11pm).

A fascinating and alarming read, uncovering the shocking facts behind the Standard American Diet (sample: The FDA allows nineteen maggots and seventy-four mites in a three and a half ounce can of mushrooms). Also a great resource for naturally supplementing your diet – did you know that the best source of iron is clams? We’re all ultimately searching for health and happiness, right? I haven’t laughed, or devoured a book in this way for so long. It’s razor sharp, insightful, jaw-dropping, empathetic – I could go on. An antidote to so much rot out there, you’ll finish it and realise how simple it is to be happy. Ruth Whippman is my new girl crush and I can’t wait for her next book.
