A stunning studio kitchen in London, most notably used by Jamie Oliver for his xxx TV show. It’s the combination of industrial vibes with warm wood, pieces that are full of secret history and open shelving that tipped me over the edge.

As I have a double height kitchen, with polished concrete, and a love for vintage pieces that tell a story, I was hooked. I started the search for a haberdasher’s counter that could be used as an island, iroko work surfaces and a glass display cabinet. it wasn’t quite so simple – pieces were hard to come by, expensive, and unsuitable for conversion (there’s a whole load of stuff that needs to happen if you’re going to add a gas or induction hob to it, as per below).

I ended up with a very different kitchen (De Nimes blue for a start!), but that shares many common elements with this one. Let’s decode the bits that really work.
